Friend,
Senator Dianne Feinstein just told Forbes, “If democracy were in jeopardy,
I would want to protect it. I don’t see it being in jeopardy right
now.”(1)
Seriously?!
Mitch McConnell is holding the Senate hostage with the filibuster,
stymying bills like the For the People Act and the George Floyd Justice in
Policing Act without a vote. Meanwhile, states have passed more than 400
voter suppression bills.(2)
If that’s not democracy in jeopardy, nothing is -- but Feinstein is still
protecting the filibuster and remaining quiet while McConnell destroys the
Senate. That’s why we called out Feinstein in a big way in the San
Francisco Chronicle this morning, and with your help, we’re going to post
a billboard in her hometown sending her a clear message: Step up for the
people of California, or step down.

Feinstein accountable?
Right now our democracy is in crisis, and Dianne Feinstein is one of the

Since the Senate passed the COVID-19 relief bill three months ago,
McConnell hasn’t let any progressive priorities move forward.
The infrastructure and jobs bill is held up. Gun safety legislation.
Voting rights. The January 6 commission. It’s all stuck in the Senate,
because McConnell is using the filibuster as a weapon.
And where is Dianne Feinstein through all of this? On Mitch McConnell’s
side.
She has refused to come out in favor of ending the filibuster, instead
wanting to weaken critical bills to appease Republicans. She prefers
keeping the Senate the way it is -- which has made her wealthy and
powerful -- instead of actually speaking up for the people of
California.(3)
Her constituents have had it.
As Courage California Executive Director Irene Kao said in the Chronicle,
Feinstein is out of touch with her constituents and not paying attention.
In the same article, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez and Assemblyman Ash
Kalra both called her out of touch, and the CEO of Democracy for America
and the vice chair of the California Democratic Party both said it’s time
for her to resign.(4)
She only has a 35% approval rating among voters. Even youth are fed up
with Feinstein’s inaction -- this week a group of young environmental
activists stood outside her home asking her to act on climate change.(5)
Californians need Dianne Feinstein to step up and do what she was elected
for -- working for us to protect our democracy and put our needs above
those of corporations. We are ramping up the pressure on Feinstein right
now. Will you donate?
[ [link removed] ]Yes, I’ll donate to Courage California and help call out Dianne
Feinstein for putting her power over the people she represents.
