Last week, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure advanced a five-year, $547-billion surface transportation reauthorization bill—the INVEST in America Act. (INVEST stands for “Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation.”)

This bill funds a bold vision for American mobility. It represents a core part of President Biden’s American Jobs Plan (his infrastructure plan)—and it would provide $109 billion to improve and expand public transit.

The INVEST in America Act will provide robust funding to:

  • Modernize public transit systems

The extension of our nation’s current long-term transportation bill—the FAST Act—expires on September 30.
