John,
A recent Issue One report found that just 12 megadonors contributed a combined $3.4 billion to federal candidates and political groups between 2009 and 2020 — accounting for about $1 of every $13 in federal elections.
Unfortunately, this jaw-dropping stat is hardly a surprise because big money dominates our politics. It’s time for Congress to do something about it.
Add your name to tell Congress that you support getting big money out of our politics!
Time and time again we see headlines about how wealthy individuals contribute huge sums of money to candidates and political groups — wielding great influence that the rest of us don’t have.
It’s unacceptable that this influence drowns out the voices of everyday Americans. Our government can’t be responsive to all Americans if our elected officials are beholden to the elite donor class.
Congress must step up and ensure that our democracy works for everyone — not just the wealthy few.
If you support curbing the corrosive influence of big money in our politics, add your name NOW!
Onward,
Ethan Rome Chief of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, Issue One
