Hey folks,
Back in February, Gerry was proud to co-sponsor the Equality Act, which prohibits discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation and gender identity in areas like education, employment, housing, credit and the jury system.
Virginia’s General Assembly passed a similar bill at the state level last year, but in far too many places in the U.S., discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity is still legal.
Comprehensive LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination legislation at the federal level is long overdue. This Pride month, will you sign this petition calling on the U.S. Senate to pass the Equality Act?
Passing the Equality Act isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also hugely popular. A poll released by the Public Religion Research Institute this spring found that 76 percent of American adults support LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination laws -- including a majority of Republican respondents!
The House of Representatives sent a simple message to LGBTQ+ Americans in February: you belong here. Now it’s time for the Senate to do the same.
Team Connolly is calling on the Senate to pass the Equality Act. Will you join us by adding your name to this petition?
Thanks for all that you do,
-- Team Connolly
