Submit your intentions for Holy
Masses June 18-26 invoking Our Mother of Perpetual Help & for a
June 27 Feast Day Holy Mass
Dear Friend,
Are you familiar with the Byzantine
Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help?
Devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual
Help (or Our Lady of Perpetual Help) began as early as the
13th Century. In 1866, Pope
Pius IX granted permission to the Redemptorists, the Religious Order
founded by St. Alphonsus Liguori, for the Icon to be enshrined in the
Church of St. Alphonsus in Rome and told the Redemptorists to “make
her known throughout the world.”
Unfortunately, the June 27th feast
day of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is now only considered a historical
feast, so it is not on the liturgical mass calendar. This means that
the majority of parishes do not recognize this feast, so Holy Masses
are not celebrated in honor of Our Lady under this title. Throughout
the centuries, countless miracles and favors granted have been
documented, especially after a visit to the Shrines dedicated to Our
Mother of Perpetual Help. Shrines are located in the Philippines,
which claims to be the largest in the world – also in Rome, Chile,
Brazil, Ireland, Poland, Singapore, Haiti and the US, in Boston,
Massachusetts.
Won’t you join me in reviving
this powerful devotion! Let’s revive the devotion!
Can you join me in prayer for nine days to Our Mother of Perpetual
Help, invoking her intercession for our needs, and at the same time,
meditate on the meaning of the Icon? I ask that you submit your intentions, which will
be included in nine days of Holy Masses, from June 18
-26 and one Holy Mass on June 27, the feast day, where we will thank Our Mother for favors
granted and all the blessings we have received.
