John, it looks like our pressure on Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema may be starting to work:
Yesterday, for the first time, Senator Manchin signaled that he is open to passing voting rights legislation, and laid out his specific priorities. This is potentially important progress — but there’s still one big obstacle in front of us.
No democracy, civil rights, climate, or other major legislation will pass with the Jim Crow filibuster still in place. That’s why it’s so important we keep reaching voters in Arizona and West Virginia directly with this message and make sure they keep the pressure on.
We’ve already raised more than $10,000 in grassroots contributions to take this message to Arizona and West Virginia — and we want to raise an additional $10,000 to make a bigger splash. Can you contribute $3 or more right now?

While Democrats like Manchin and Sinema say they want “bipartisanship,” Republicans have already made their position on working with Democrats quite clear. Back in May, Mitch McConnell said that “One hundred percent of my focus is standing up to [the Biden] administration.” Yesterday, another member of Senate Republican leadership vowed to make Joe Biden a “half-term president.”
Here’s the bottom line: Working people are counting on Democrats to deliver on the promises they made to voters, no matter what. We must do everything we can to ensure that Democratic senators like Manchin and Sinema hear from their constituents about why abolishing the filibuster is the only way we can move forward on a transformational jobs and care agenda.
We’re organizing in-person actions, phone banks, teach-ins, and radio and digital ads to turn up the heat. But with your support, we can do even more. Contribute $3 or more to WFP today to help power our efforts in Arizona and West Virginia this summer.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
