** Dear John,
------------------------------------------------------------
Today, I’m writing to share new resources from our Southern Poverty Law Center legal colleagues working for children’s rights and immigrant justice, resources that we at Learning for Justice hope you can use to work for justice in your community.
Protecting Immigrant Students’ Rights to a Public Education: A Guide for Advocates ([link removed]) offers information and recommendations that educators, caregivers and other trusted adults can use to ensure that their school or district is meeting its legal responsibility to ELLs and immigrant students and families.
Designed to share with families and available in multiple languages, an accompanying pamphlet ([link removed]) offers overviews of this information, easy-to-use reference lists and links to further resources. You can check out all of the new resources for educators and caregivers here ([link removed]) .
We hope you will take some time to review this guide. We even caught up with a few of our colleagues who worked on it to talk about how it might be most useful for educators ([link removed]) ! We hope you’ll read their suggestions, check to ensure that your school is meeting its responsibilities and share these resources with others advocating for children in your school or district.
We’re often reminded of how grateful we are for our community of educators who work to build spaces where all young people can thrive. We hope these new resources support you in that critical work.
As always, thanks for all you do for students.
Jalaya Liles Dunn
Director, Learning for Justice
