Lots is going on with immigration in Southern Arizona and your help is needed.
Nogales, Sonora
Those who speak Spanish (and those who don’t) are needed across the border.
- Kino Migrant Center (Mariposa POE) - Tuesdays, GVS Samaritans help serve meals to migrants. Contact Shura Wallin at 520-870-4858 or [email protected].
- Mexican Red Cross for Repatriation (DeConcini POE) - Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays GVS Samaritans offer water and food to returning migrants and also accompaniment by bus to Kino Migrant Center. Contact Susie Sanders at 775-385-7231 or [email protected].
Nogales, Arizona
Welcoming folks needed, either English- or Spanish-speaking.
Nogales Welcome Center near Deconcini POE - This is about to be opened for asylum seekers entering the U.S. through the DeConcini POE. Folks need to be trained in their welcome duties. Asylum seekers will be welcomed, given a food/travel bag and directed to transportation to Tucson and eventually to their sponsors.
