We’re fighting for an energy system of, by, and for the people (not corporations). Are you in?

John,

Far too many people in this country are living paycheck to paycheck, forced to make impossible decisions. Keep the heat on or pay the water bill? Buy clothes for your kid or put food on the table?

Utilities are public goods. Everyone deserves temperature control, water, and electricity, regardless of how much money they make. But right now, our utilities are intentionally designed to rake in the profits for private companies on the backs of poor, Black and brown folks.

That’s why Rep. Cori Bush and Rep. Jamaal Bowman are introducing a resolution to put power (literally) back into the hands of the people. Will you add your name to support their push to make our utilities publicly-owned?

America is the richest country on earth. We shouldn’t have millions of people struggling to keep themselves alive month-to-month. Distribution of essential services like heat, A/C, and water should be run by the people, for the people.

We need utilities that are made to work for us — not for a handful of giant corporations. Reps. Bush and Bowman have the vision to do just that by creating a utility system that is equitable, anti-racist, people-powered, and climate-resilient.

Add your name now to co-sponsor their resolution to make utilities a public good and remove them from the grasp of private, exploitative companies.

In solidarity,
The Sunrise team
