Dear Friend,
Each June, we celebrate Pride Month. Pride is a time for our LGBTQ+ family and neighbors to celebrate who they are.
Pride is also a time to honor the work and sacrifices of the LGBTQ+ people who have fought to ensure our country lives up to its promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all. It has taken the tireless work of countless individuals to ensure progress toward those ideals. If you’d like to learn more about the LGBTQ+ rights movement, check out organizations like the Human Rights Campaign or Equality NC.
But we still have work to do to ensure that all people possess the same rights and opportunities. To my LGBTQ+ friends, neighbors, and colleagues: I will continue to pursue equality, not just in June, but every month.
