One of Big Tech’s Biggest Critics Is Now Its Regulator

Amazon is scared. The New York Times reports:

One of Big Tech’s Biggest Critics Is Now Its Regulator
Lina Khan is the most progressive chair of the Federal Trade Commission in at least a generation.

Months ago, we recommended anti-monopoly trailblazer Lina Khan to the incoming Biden Administration as one of our top choices for the FTC. The Senate just confirmed her 69 to 28 -- a HUGE PROGRESSIVE VICTORY.

The Progressive Change Institute (our sister organization) is working behind the scenes to fill other key positions that big corporations would love to capture, but that we're trying to fill with progressives like Lina. The top antitrust prosecutor at DOJ is a big one.

It would be malpractice to stop our work getting great progressives in the Administration -- and sidelining corporate tools who will hurt consumers. Can you make a tax-deductible donation to the Progressive Change Institute's "personnel is policy" work right now?

Inspired by Senator Elizabeth Warren's mantra that "personnel is policy," the Progressive Change Institute led a coalition of 50 progressive groups in providing the Biden-Harris Administration with 700 credentialed and progressive personnel recommendations. The New York Times, Associated Press, ABC News, and other national media covered this ambitious project.

Lina Khan and Interior Secretary Deb Haaland were at the top of our list. So was incoming CFPB Director Rohit Chopra. Great progressives are also in the National Economic Council, Treasury Department, key climate slots, and more.

Thousands of positions have yet to be filled. Please help the Progressive Change Institute continue this vital work.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.
