When Dan Hannaher, field office director in Fargo, ND, learned that
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota would be closing its doors,
he reached out to Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) to
see if there was a path forward. And thankfully, there was, because of
people like you.

With support from LIRS, Dan and his team can continue their
life-changing work of resettling refugees in the community, like the
recent arrival of a family of ten from the Democratic Republic of the
Congo. They came to Fargo-Moorhead with only one suitcase and a duffel
bag containing all their belongings.

The Congolese family waited 11 years in refugee status before being
reunited with their loved ones. To welcome them to the community, Dan
and his team secured two apartments for the family, stocked the
refrigerator and pantry, supplied gift cards for clothes and other
necessities, and made sure the family understood the need for warm
clothing and protection from North Dakota's bitter winters.

And this was only possible because of the gifts to the Neighbors in
Need Fund - a fund that helps meet the unique needs of newly
arrived refugee and immigrant families. And to support this critical
fund, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas, and
Olivet Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Ohio, have provided $25,000 in
matching funds to double your gift today.
