In the last year, winter storms in Texas wiped out a statewide energy grid and left millions of homes without heat. In California, a private utility plunged millions more into an energy blackout to prevent causing more massive wildfires.
Decades of disinvestment in public infrastructure have left our country unprepared for the climate crisis. Now, we have a historic chance to change course and invest in generating green jobs in every town and county nationwide.
Our country needs a 21st-century infrastructure package with the climate crisis at its very center. Ro and his progressive colleagues in the House are refusing to back down and support a watered-down infrastructure bill – and he needs our support now.
An infrastructure bill that doesn’t prioritize the climate crisis cannot – and will not – pass the House. Period.
We need to safeguard our environment for the new century AND we need to generate millions of well-paying jobs for hard working Americans. A bold infrastructure package will do both – and we simply can’t afford to accept anything less.
