Given that five people died from the January 6th insurrection it’s a miracle that lawmakers were kept relatively safe and that the 2020 election results were ultimately certified. For that, we have the Capitol Hill and Washington D.C. police departments to thank. Despite the Trump Administration impeding the deployment of national guard troops as back up, these heroes made sure that ultimately democracy won the day.

That’s why we’re so appalled that 21 members of The 147 had the gall to vote AGAINST these two police forces being awarded Congressional Gold Medals for their heroism. Why? Because according to them there was no insurrection in the first place.

We will never forget the violent attempted coup The 147 attempted to stoke on January 6th and we will never forget the names of the 21 members of Congress who tried to sweep it under the rug by denying these American heroes the recognition they deserve. We want to take a moment to especially recognize Capitol Hill PD officer Brian Sicknick. After being attacked by protestors during the Capitol insurrection multiple times, Sicknick collapsed upon returning to his office and died the next day. His death is currently being investigated as a murder.

You can’t try to sweep January 6th under the rug without disrespecting the ultimate sacrifice Officer Sicknick made in the defense of our constitution, the rule of law, and democracy. Please, share the names of The 147 who voted against these Congressional Gold Medals, and help us make sure this unpatriotic attack on the heroes that successfully defended the legitimacy of our democracy isn’t swept under the rug as well.
