Better late than never, Friend!
Since his arrest in July 2020, Householder had
refused to bow to calls for him to voluntarily resign his
seat.
But now, after almost a year of inaction, the Ohio House voted today to expel indicted former House
Speaker Larry Householder.
The vote was a whopping 75-21!
We are one step closer to
justice
Householder had been removed from the Speakership and was not
serving a role on any standing committee. Every day he was in the Ohio
House served as a reminder of the scandal surrounding the passage of House Bill
6.
His continued presence sent a strong signal that while
bribery and back room deals were welcome in Ohio, clean energy
development is not.

Now we need to finish the
job
Making Ohioans subsidize the OVEC coal plants may be the
worst of House Bill 6 because they are a double whammy for consumers:
higher electric bills and more air pollution. An OVEC executive
conceded in a hearing on Tuesday that
repealing the subsidy wouldn’t cause the plants to close.
Ohioans shouldn’t be paying more each month to bail out two
dirty, inefficient, expensive 1950s coal plants for the next decade.
These plants should be retired, not bailed out. SB117 is the first
step in that process.
Thanks for all that you
do!
Thanks to all of us who sent emails,
made calls and wrote letters that helped to make it happen. In his
testimony yesterday, Rep. Householder referenced the messages he had
been hearing: "... and they always say the same thing, 'Repeal
HB6 and resign!'"
It took a year, but we did
it!
Would you also chip in with a special gift to
help us continue to this work to root out
corruption, retire these dirty coal plants and protect ratepayers and
the health of every Ohioan?
