Dear John - this is important:
There are ongoing efforts to spread misinformation about the 2020 election, and there is growing evidence that those at the highest levels of government assisted and pursued these efforts to overturn a demonstrably free and fair election. It is not hyperbole to say that our very democracy is at stake, and we must take actions to strengthen it.
We need to protect voter access and the integrity of voting administration – things that have been under attack across the country and right here in Minnesota – but we also must make the structural changes necessary to combat the polarization, distrust and extremism that fuels the misinformation and partisan attacks in the first place.
Ranked Choice Voting is a simple but proven reform that is well suited to countering the dangerous polarization we are facing and can also break through the gridlock we see time and time again. This is why Congressman Dean Phillips is making RCV a top national priority.
A group of dedicated supporters concerned about our democracy have put forward a special $45,000 match challenge between now and July 15.
In addition to building support for this key reform at the legislature, FairVote MN will be working this summer to educate voters, cities and candidates to ensure successful local elections in the five Minnesota cities using RCV this fall. We have never had five simultaneous RCV elections – representing 16% of Minnesota voters – and the educational work, especially in the new cities using RCV, Bloomington and Minnetonka, will be critical.
Help strengthen democracy in Minnesota and our RCV Cities by donating TODAY!
Thank you again for your support. Together we can make Minnesota a leader in democracy reform.
Sincerely, |
