Dear John,
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is picking a new governor general any day and you need to act fast to make sure the new one doesn’t waste as much money as the last one.
For example, former governors general get a $206,000 annual expense account. Bizarrely, you are even on the hook for a former governor general’s office expenses for six months after they die. Do you know anyone who has an expense account like that?
Your tax dollars also pay for annual retirement payments worth about $150,000 per year. And even though Julie Payette only served as governor general for three years, she will still receive that $150,000 annual retirement payment.
On top of all that gravy, the governor general’s salary is about $300,000 per year.
We need your help to stop this gravy train before Trudeau picks a new governor general.
Could you please take a few minutes to email federal party leaders and let them know that you support reining in these crazy perks before Trudeau picks a new governor general?

Thanks for standing up for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!
Sincerely,
