This year’s Pulitzer Prize winners had some familiar names for the communications team at IJ. Kathleen McGrory and Neil Bedi at the Tampa Bay Times won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize in Local Reporting for their in-depth investigation of Pasco County, Florida’s “predictive policing” program, in which police create a list of people they think likely to commit crimes and then relentlessly harass them and their families. Following the Times’ reporting, IJ’s attorneys hit the ground and filed a class action lawsuit challenging the program on behalf of three families profiled by McGrory and Bedi.
