Come knock some doors this weekend, and help flip this critical state blue.

Hey John,

I’m thrilled (and a little terrified) to tell you that we have less than one month until Election Day in Virginia!

If Democrats win just 4 seats, they can take back the legislature and pass progressive legislation like gun reform, expanded abortion access, and the Equal Rights Amendment.

Easier said than done—Republicans aren’t giving up Virginia without a fight. To win, we need to turn out every Democratic voter we can. And the #1 way to increase voter turnout is by talking to people face-to-face about our candidates and helping them make a plan to vote.

If you want to help flip Virginia blue, this is one of the last weekends to get involved. RSVP today to your closest canvass in Fredericksburg this weekend.

I love canvassing. I feel like it’s a great way to cut through all the political noise. You get to connect with people who have the power to fix our system.

To demystify it a little bit, here’s a rundown of how a day of canvassing goes:

1. You show up to the staging location nearest you. That might be a coffee shop, restaurant, or someone’s house.
2. You get the lay of the land. A campaign staffer or volunteer will give you and other volunteers a rundown of the neighborhood you’ll be canvassing in, and what they’ve been hearing from voters. They’ll also go over the canvassing script and talking points (yes, they give you a script!).
3. You get your walk packet—a map of all the houses you’ll be knocking on. You’ll also have some time to familiarize yourself with the map and plan your best walking or driving route. You can usually plug your map’s number into an app on your phone and navigate that way if you’d prefer.
4. You go knock doors! Most of the folks you’ll be talking to will be left-leaning voters who need a little more information about the candidates or a little guidance to get to the polls.
5. The biggest thing to remember is to knock every door on your list. By walking just one packet, you’re going to help a lot of people get involved (and you may help flip this entire state!).

That’s it! That’s what a day of canvassing looks like. It’s going to take all of us spending a few days doing just that to flip Virginia blue, but it’s totally worth it!

Don’t wait, get involved in flipping Virginia today. RSVP for your closest canvassing event in Fredericksburg this weekend, and help knock some doors!

See you out there!
