Last week, we learned that Bill Barr and Trump’s Justice Department secretly subpoenaed the phone records of Democratic members of Congress, including Adam Schiff, as well as journalists, family members, and even a minor. This unprecedented and outrageous act should be an enormous scandal, but Republicans are trying to sweep it under the rug. We can’t let that happen.

Bill Barr and Trump DOJ officials took an oath to the Constitution, not Donald Trump. It’s unconscionable that they would use their office to investigate political opponents. As a lawyer, a former active duty service member, and an American, I am shocked by this scandal. This is a big deal because it shreds the separation of powers that the framers so carefully put into the structure of the Constitution.
