John,
If we’re going to ensure a future where Black people don’t just merely survive, but thrive, then we must continue to back candidates dedicated to the movement’s values and Black liberation overall.
That’s why we are thrilled to announce BLM PAC’s endorsement of Chi Ossé in the New York City Council 36th District election, representing the people of Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights.
Chi is a third-generation Brooklynite from Crown Heights who has been a dedicated leader and activist in the movement. He was inspired to run after the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, announcing his candidacy last year on Juneteenth.
Chi is committed to reimagining, reinvesting, and renewing the 36th district by focusing on issues that directly impact Black folks -- like public safety, affordable housing, public sanitation, and so much more.
Electing Black leaders is integral for the advancement of Black people -- especially on the local level. It’s on us to ensure that we’ve got strong support to back candidates like Chi in the many races to come.
Can we count on you to chip in
$5
or anything you can to BLM PAC so we can continue to back candidates like Chi Ossé?

The New York City Council, along with city councils across the nation, is responsible for police budgets, public safety initiatives, and so many things that have a huge impact on our lives. That’s why we’ve got to ensure our voices are heard -- because these public officials work for us, and these initiatives and local-level legislation should stem from what we the people demand.
In New York specifically, we’ve seen white supremacy work through local budgets advancing the NYPD -- like the blatant use of chokeholds and stop-and-frisk. Even though NYC’s council has been predominantly Democratic, this is the perfect example of why we need to be strategic in making sure we’re backing candidates solely committed to Black liberation and Black futures.
We’ve seen the cycle of elected officials fail to invest in Black communities. That’s why it’s truly our responsibility to elect local leaders who will ensure proper funding and programming for our Black communities.
So, John, chip in anything you can to BLM PAC -- because together, we can back candidates dedicated to ensuring Black people will thrive.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter PAC
