Cheri dedicated her career to public service and the people of North Carolina as a public defender, then as an Associate Justice of the state Supreme Court.

In 2019, she became the first-ever Black woman to serve as Chief Justice of North Carolina’s Supreme Court. This makes her the ONLY Senate candidate in the Tar Heel state to win two statewide elections.

Now, she’s on her way to breaking another glass ceiling as the first Black woman to represent North Carolina in the Senate.

She has a real shot at pulling a Democratic upset win next year, and the GOP knows it. That’s why Trump chose North Carolina as his first major public event to bolster support for right-wing extremist, Rep. Ted Budd.
