Black people have organized and fought for our freedoms from the moment we were brought to this country. Even during the most painful moments of our collective history, systemic racism and oppression have been met with grit, determination, and moments of joy.

Juneteenth is a time to pause and celebrate that joy -- to recognize the beauty of Black history and culture is to recognize the beauty of American history. We must remain committed to advancing justice going forward.
