I've always been accustomed to Nevada being a tough battleground state to win in, John - and I know Catherine's reelection isn't going to be any different. There is nothing more important for Democrats than protecting our Senate majority - and, right now, that road runs straight through Nevada.

Mitch McConnell, the GOP and their dark-money machine have their sights set on flipping Nevada's seat red and the Senate with it. They're already spending nearly $1 million on attack ads to defeat Catherine, 17 months before Election Day. Why? She took back the Senate as chair of the Senate Democrats' campaign arm and is a proven fighter for Nevada's working families.

We cannot afford to lose her leadership in Nevada if we want to defend our majority - but Catherine is about to miss her midnight fundraising goal. And she's worried because CNN is calling her seat one of the most likely to flip, so I promised to rally her team and hit that $35,000 midnight goal.

Being one of the top Senate battleground races, with our Senate majority so razor-thin, means that this could be one of the most expensive races in Nevada history. Catherine won by just two points in 2016, after GOP and outside groups spent nearly $50 million to defeat her.

If the near-million they've already spent this far from Election Day, means anything, the GOP and their allies are ready to spend more than $50 million to defeat her. That's why I'm asking for the help of this grassroots team to raise Catherine the resources to fight back.

Catherine combines compassion with tenacity. She's proven that, working late nights and long weeks to make sure our voices are heard in Washington on issues from protecting affordable health care and reproductive rights to combating climate change.

She's the voice our families need speaking up for them in Washington - but if we don't support her now, I'm really worried she could lose on Election Day. Mitch McConnell is personally recruiting his handpicked candidate - and Catherine cannot afford to miss this goal or lose any ground. So we need to work hard to keep her in the Senate.
