Dear Friend,
Did you know, that after 18 years of Young Center advocacy, immigration officials now ask for Child Advocates and take our recommendations on immigrant children’s best interests into account? All this, despite there still being no requirement in the law that immigration judges, asylum officers, and other federal officials consider a child’s best interests—their wishes, safety, and well-being—when making life-or-death decisions. Our next step is to change law and policy to guarantee that immigrant children’s best interests are permanently protected.
Join our upcoming webinar next Tuesday at 1:00pm ET ([link removed]) to learn about how Young Center staff engage in best interests advocacy in court, our fight to get a “best interests mandate” into federal law and policy, and how you can join our effort to reimagine the immigration system. Event speakers include Young Center staff from around the country: San Antonio Social Worker Elizabeth Farias, Houston Staff Attorney Deisy Lee, Policy Analyst Robert Cotter, and Senior Philanthropy Officer AJ Albinak.

Thank you,
The Young Center

The Young Center works with the most vulnerable unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in federal custody, so their voices are heard, and their best interests are protected. We also advocate for an immigration system that treats children as children. To learn more about work, visit ** theyoungcenter.org ([link removed])
