Personhood follows the story of Tammy Loertscher, a woman who was investigated under Wisconsin’s “Unborn Child Protection Act” (Act 292) which allows for the detention and prosecution of pregnant people throughout the state. Despite leading medical and human rights organizations stating that Act 292 is dangerous and is not supported by science, thousands of pregnant people have been referred for investigation under this policy.
