Welcome to Wednesday, June 16th, laces and velcros...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said if Republicans retake the majority and a SCOTUS vacancy arises in 2024, they would likely block a nominee put forward by a Democratic president as they did in 2016.

McConnell was also asked whether the rule would apply to a SCOTUS nominee picked by a Democratic president in 2023.

“Well, we’d have to wait and see what happens.”

Democratic lawmakers have been lobbying Justice Stephen Breyer, 82, to retire and allow President Joe Biden to nominate a replacement while his party controls the Senate.

This USAFacts chart shows that the percentage of Americans reporting such symptoms has steadily declined since reaching a peak of 42.6% on November 23, 2020:

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

Know what's even scarier than water-dragons, krakens, and whatever the #$@$ that thing is in the bottom right corner? The truly mythical amount of trash in our oceans.

Gyres are massive systems of rotating ocean currents (think slow-moving whirlpools) that pull ocean debris into one location—including litter, fishing gear, and other garbage.

This year, the Ocean Voyages Institute wants to remove one million pounds of plastics and ghost nets from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
