This Thursday at 2 pm ET, NAS is hosting Fighting for Academic Freedom in America, Canada, and Britain. In this event, our speakers will discuss the ways in which academics may defend academic freedom in their institutions, continue their academic work while keeping their jobs, and ensure the tradition of academic freedom lives on under growing authoritarianism from within higher education.
The webinar will feature Bruce Gilley, professor of political science at Portland State University; Mark Mercer, president of the Society for Academic Freedom and Scholarship (Canada); and Toby Young, founder and general secretary of the Free Speech Union (UK). Moderators include Bruce Oliver Newsome, professor of political science at the University of San Diego, and David Randall, director of research at the NAS.
