For the past 14 weeks, 700 nurses at St. Vincent Hospital in Massachusetts
have been in the fight of their lives, striking for the safe staffing
levels that we know are needed to protect patients and the community.
Their fight is one of the longest nurses strikes we’ve seen in the U.S. in
over a decade. 

But right now, Tenet Healthcare, a multi-billion dollar for-profit
hospital corporation, is spending tens of millions of dollars to prolong
the strike. 

They’ve walked away from the negotiating table, refusing to listen to the
nurses who are advocating for safer working conditions. They’ve threatened
to permanently replace the nurses who have cared for the community for
decades, including those who risked their lives to care for patients
during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

That’s why today, we’re sending Tenet a message: If you take on one of us,
you take on all of us! 

People across the country are finding ways to show solidarity with St.
Vincent's nurses — will you join them?

Taking action is easy:

 2. Have a friend snap your photo holding your sign (or take a selfie!).
 3. Post it to your social media accounts with a message of solidarity to
striking nurses. Make sure to tag @TenetHealth and use the hashtags
#RNStrike and #SafeStaffing.

Tenet’s excuse is that they can’t afford to provide safe staffing — but
the truth is, they’ve posted nearly $500 million in profit over the last
two quarters alone. On top of that, Tenet is one of the biggest corporate
backers of the anti-Medicare for All front group, the Partnership for
America's Health Care Future.

These profit-driven, dangerous, and exploitative actions by Tenet would
simply not be possible under a Medicare for All system. 

With Medicare for All, federal nurse-to-patient ratios would be set by
law, ensuring safe and effective staffing ratios across the country that
protect nurses, patients, and the community. Hospitals would not be able
to pocket millions of dollars by putting nurses and patients at risk.

It takes a lot of courage to do what the St. Vincent’s Hospital nurses are
doing. That’s why it’s critical that we show them that they have the
support and solidarity of people across the country.
