Read, and Act: New Future of Nursing Report Now Interactive
Following last month’s release of The Future of Nursing: 2020-2030: Charting a Path to Create Health Equity
comes a toolkit that helps turn its findings into action. In an interactive website rich with resources, the National Academy of Medicine delves into the challenges the report lays out, and invites all to take steps to “unleash the power of the nurse to achieve health equity for all.”
CMS Tool Guides Clinicians in Asking About Social Needs
From its Accountable Health Communities Model, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid now offers a questionnaire that helps clinicians learn about individuals’ unmet health-related social needs, such as food insecurity and unstable housing. The Health-Related Social Needs Screening Tool (HRSN) helps staff to take the next step of connecting beneficiaries with community resources.
Vermont on June 7 became the 36th state to enact the Nurse Licensure Compact. That means that, come February 2022, when the law is implemented, Vermont nurses may practice in other NLC jurisdictions—and it means that more Americans will have improved access to more health care providers and better care.
Even as more Americans become fully vaccinated against COVID-19, some populations in the U.S. have lower rates of vaccination. Among Hispanic people, it’s lack of access as well as “hesitancy,” notes Adriana Perez, PhD, CRNP, FAAN, Campaign adviser and a nurse expert featured in a series of informational videos from Elite Learning.
