Dear John,

Sir Roger Scruton was one of the most influential conservative philosophers of the 21st century.

He was what you might call a “humane conservative.” Scruton grounded his political philosophy in art, culture, and a belief in objective standards of beauty.

Scruton believed that there aren’t just right ideas. There are also right feelings, and a conservative’s task is to cultivate both.

It’s a radically countercultural position.

It also happens to be true.

In our newest podcast ([link removed]) , you’ll hear Daniel J. Mahoney, professor of political science and Augustinian Boulanger Chair at Assumption College, explain how Sir Roger Scruton developed his conservative philosophy.

Plus, you’ll get to hear from Scruton himself in an excerpt of a speech he gave during ISI’s 2019 Gala for Western Civilization.

In this episode ([link removed]) , you’ll learn:
* How America adopted and expanded Europe's culture of self-loathing

* Why conservation was the foundation of Scruton’s conservatism

* The European conservative publications you need to start reading

* Why Scruton concluded he had to return to the Christian religion

* . . . and more!

Give it a listen. ([link removed])

We’ll have a new episode up Thursday, July 1. So subscribe to Conservative Conversations with ISI ([link removed]) now.
