While speaking to a crowd in Texas, Beto O'Rourke made the stakes clear: “Democracy is under attack in Texas and across the country. You have the most restrictive voter suppression bill here in our state.”
The first step to saving democracy and changing the political landscape in Texas? Defeating Greg Abbot, the anti-democracy governor who threatened to defund the Texas legislature if Democrats again block his massive voter suppression bill.
There's no shortage of reasons why we need to defeat Abbott this cycle, team -- or why O'Rourke is the right person to do it. But we're going to need you and every progressive in the country with us if we're going to flip Texas blue -- especially because Donald Trump just endorsed Abbott.
O'Rourke isn't worried, and neither are we. He knows how to run an engaging campaign -- it's why he inspired Democrats nationwide in 2018 and came within just two points of defeating Trump-ally Ted Cruz.
But Republicans saw what we did in Georgia -- and then they launched a nationwide voter suppression campaign to make sure it never happens again, especially not in the biggest battleground state in the country. So this cycle, we're doubling our efforts in Texas, and we need to raise another $3,729 by tonight to do it.
