Today, Team Melli won a critical match against Iraq 2 to 0! This means they advance to the next qualifying round. We have our fingers crossed that Team Melli is on their way to the World Cup next year! 

But advancing — and winning – requires a game plan.

And John, we’ve got our own game plan in the coming months:  

• Supporting the ongoing JCPOA talks in Vienna and continuing our advocacy in ensuring U.S. policy on Iran prioritizes peace & diplomacy--not pressure and punishment
• Working with our allies in the Senate to pass the NO BAN Act to prevent any future iteration of the Muslim Ban
• Urging the Biden administration to lift sanctions on Iran and ensure that U.S. policies do not impede critical humanitarian aid to Iran, like COVID-19 vaccines
• Working with companies like PayPal and Google to ensure that sanctions overcompliance doesn't result in discrimination against our community here and doesn't hinder tech access for our loved ones abroad

We’re heading into one of the most intensive and politically demanding seasons to date. If we’re going to make headway on these pressing issues affecting our community, we need every member of our team to step up and play their best game.
