John,
Health care is a human right. In a modern, wealthy, and moral nation, no human being should be too poor to receive the medical care they need to survive.
That’s why we were incredibly proud to see Justice Democrat Pramila Jayapal introduce the Medicare for All Bill of 2019, a counterpart to Bernie Sanders’ legislation in the Senate. Together, we’ve taken Medicare for All from an aspirational goal to a bill with 119 cosponsors in the House.
Across the country, people are tired of our for-profit system of private insurance. It’s unreliable, it forces people to switch plans frequently, and it denies care to millions of people who have to choose between crippling debt and death.
That’s not just bad policy — it’s fundamentally immoral. Medicare for All is more popular than ever, but still, too many of our leaders are refusing to meet the challenges when faced with the bold change that our neighbors deserve.
Thanks for all that you do,
Alexandra Rojas
