Just this past week, the Senate brought the Paycheck Fairness Act — a piece of legislation that will end gender-based wage discrimination — to the floor for a vote. With a 49-50 vote and not one Republican voting yes, the Paycheck Fairness Act was killed.

It’s incomprehensible to think that an entire political party is against pay equity, and after the pandemic disproportionately caused women to face job losses and economic stress, it’s crucial we eliminate the gender pay gay and help working families.

Gender-based wage discriminsation isn’t new — and the pandemic only made the entire crisis worse. Coupled with GOP opposition to the Paycheck Fairness Act, the gender pay gap isn’t going anywhere unless we demand action.

No matter who you are, no matter your gender, you deserve the same pay for the same work — it’s as simple as that.
