Friend,
So many of us have been affected by this unprecedented global health crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to overwhelm health care systems and alter daily life around the world. For some, this has meant changing routines, revising plans, and adjusting expectations. To our staff around the world, COVID-19 has been a call to action.
Staff members like Barthelemy, a Burundian refugee and crucial member of MSF’s staff in Tanzania, know first-hand the extreme sacrifices that must be made to find safety. When conflict erupted in his hometown, Barthelemy fled Burundi on a bicycle. With a handful of clothes, a mobile phone, and a bible, he cycled for five days before finally crossing the border into Tanzania. After more than two months, he arrived at Nduta refugee camp, where MSF is the sole healthcare provider for 75,000 refugees.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is made up of passionate people, like Barthelemy, working to inspire hope in others and providing health care to the people who need it most.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
