John,

Here’s a story you hear again and again: road rage spurs a shooting, and someone is killed or injured. And frequently, one or both of the drivers involved are concealed carry permit-holders. Or as the gun lobby would call them, they’re “good guys with guns.”

The story above happened in Michigan. And both drivers were lawful concealed permit-holders who killed each other. (“Lawful” until the shooting started, that is.)

Here’s the thing: the NRA wants you to think that an armed person typically intervenes as a hero, but too frequently, an armed person is just one tense moment away from making a life-ending decision. In fact, research shows that allowing civilians to carry guns increases violent crime by 13 to 15 percent. In other words, guns don’t make us safer.

John, we have to stop these lies. We have to stop the NRA and the gun lobby from promoting a delusional fantasy world that shatters lives and destroys families.

Can you help us stand up to the NRA and its ongoing campaign of deceit? [link removed]

Thanks for all you do,

Renee
