It’s been more than 80 days since Kamala was appointed border czar, but she still hasn’t visited our southern border yet—despite pressure from even the liberal media to do so.
Instead of letting her continue to get away with cackling every time someone brings up the border, I brought a cardboard cutout—which frankly might have more substance than the real thing—with me to the border. I took her on a tour so she could see that drug trafficking, unaccompanied children in cages, and crime are all way up, while respect for law and order is at an all-time low.

Rather than traveling to Guatemala to promise away American tax dollars like Vice President Harris, I traveled to the southern border to see the crisis first-hand. Shockingly, I saw buses and planes loaded up with unvetted illegal immigrants traveling for free to destinations throughout the country. Under President Biden’s ineffective border policies, even Colorado is becoming a "border state."
Despite what Democrats or the media tell you, the situation at the southern border is a crisis. I saw it with my own eyes, and the numbers don’t lie: - One year ago under President Trump, there were 1,400 unaccompanied minors in HHS custody—under Biden’s presidency, it has gone up to 22,000.
- In President Trump’s last full month in office, CBP released 18 illegal immigrants into the United States with a Notice to Appear at immigration court—in April, the Biden administration released 26,233 illegal aliens into communities across the United States.
- In just the first four months of Biden’s term, enough fentanyl to kill every American four times over has been interdicted by Border Patrol.

I am thankful for the community service and dedication exhibited by the brave men and women in the Colorado Civil Air Patrol, and I was honored to be inducted as an honorary member when I visited them this week. They do such great work training our young people to serve their communities, honor our country, and step up to do the right thing.

I stood up for rural Colorado by sending a letter to the Director of the National Weather Service urging the timely integration of the San Luis Valley Radar’s data into the National Weather Service’s system. The weather radar has been operational for over a year, but bureaucratic delays have hampered the weather station’s ability to improve weather forecasting for farmers, ranchers, outdoorsmen, first responders, and water district managers. I will keep working hard until this issue is fixed.

Pueblo is a special place, and I was honored to visit and spend time at the L3 Harris pilot training facility and learn about the work they’ve done to train over 20,000 pilots for the U.S. Air Force and the Marine Corps.

Instead of doing their jobs, Democrats on the Budget Committee have passed trillions of dollars of spending without so much as a hearing. This week, we finally had our first hearing, and I grilled a Biden administration official about why the White House is unconstitutionally wasting duly-appropriated money Congress set aside for the border wall.
I believe in a strong separation of powers, and I will not allow the Biden administration to get away with unconstitutionally violating the Impoundment Control Act.

90% of Colorado restaurants are having trouble hiring enough staff for the summer season due to the extended federal unemployment bonuses. Last month, we had more open jobs available than the country has seen in 20 years, but we had a national unemployment rate of 5.8% and Colorado’s unemployment rate was 6.4% in April.
I joined Colorado Representatives Ken Buck and Doug Lamborn in sending a letter to Governor Polis asking him to follow the lead of 25 other states that have rejected the federal weekly $300 unemployment bonus.
