We just released our first radio ad against Mitch McConnell. It's focused on how Mitch McConnell sold out Kentucky coal miners - giving a tax break worth hundreds of millions of dollars to big coal companies, while cutting health care funding for sick coal miners by more than half.

It's not typical to start running TV and radio ads this early. We know that. But if we're going to actually defeat Mitch McConnell when he's up for reelection in 2020, we can't afford to wait or start late. Mitch isn't. He's already spent over $250,000 on TV and radio attacking his likely Democratic opponent, Amy McGrath - and she only just barely jumped into the race!

Mitch McConnell understands that campaigns are different nowadays. You can't just start running ads and talking to voters a few months before Election Day. But unfortunately, that's not the strategy that so many other campaigns and Democratic groups take. They fundraise, fundraise, fundraise for 18 to 20 months, and they don't start talking to voters until it's time to vote. We can't beat McConnell doing that.

That's why we've been running TV and digital (and now, radio) ads against McConnell for months. That's why we're already working on our next ad. That's why we're not going to wait to start organizing and talking to voters. And that's why we are asking for your support today.

Mitch McConnell is sitting on millions of dollars in contributions from corporate PACs, Big Pharma, Big Oil, Wall Street, and the NRA, and he will go after Amy McGrath and whatever other Democrats challenge him with a vengeance. He already is!

The problem for Democrats is that our candidate will have to introduce themselves to voters, fend off attacks from McConnell, and hold him accountable - all at once. When a campaign is just starting up, it's impossible to have the resources to do all three things at once.
