Greetings John,

After a challenging legislative session, Alabama Arise’s push for Medicaid expansion is only getting stronger. That’s because our plan to expand Medicaid in Alabama does not depend on the Legislature. It depends solely on the governor.

That means instead of having to convince 140 lawmakers. from across the state ‒ many of whom have shown their support of Medicaid expansion ‒ we only have to convince one very important person to do what’s right for Alabamians through executive action. Because of your support, we’re closer than ever before.

During the 2021 regular session, our Cover Alabama Coalition prompted more than 12,000 Alabamians to take action on Medicaid expansion. You signed petitions, shared your stories, posted on social media and sent thousands of messages to Gov. Kay Ivey. After our call-in day on May 20, we heard directly from the governor’s office that her staff is feeling the pressure to expand Medicaid.

Donations from supporters like you help more constituents to connect with their legislators, expanding their civic participation beyond voting and making their voices heard. Donations also pay for the labor of our organizers and storytellers who work diligently to amplify the stories of those most impacted by harmful state policies.

With your additional support, we could help even more directly impacted Alabamians urge Ivey to expand Medicaid. And if you’ve never donated before or would like to increase your giving this year, your donation will be fully matched thanks to a $100,000 matching grant for all new or increased contributions! This means you can DOUBLE your impact by making a gift today.

If you’ve been on the fence about supporting Alabama Arise, now is the best time! Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help more than 340,000 Alabamians get access to better health care. Can you help us reach the finish line?

With Gratitude,

Amber Haywood
