Friend – I wanted to make sure you saw the message I sent this past week (below). While Donald Trump's suspension from Facebook until 2023 is welcome news, it does not go far enough. The former president's incessant lying and amplifying of conspiracy theories caused serious harm to our democratic institutions – culminating in an attack on the Capitol. We must prevent him from causing any further damage.

But I still need 231 more people to respond to my one-question poll urging social media companies to take action. Can you please make your voice heard before our deadline at 11:59 p.m. tonight?

Should Facebook allow Donald Trump back on its platform?

Yes: [link removed]

No: [link removed]

Thank you,

Dick

Subject: Do you want Trump on Facebook again?

Friend,

Facebook just suspended Donald Trump from using its platform until 2023 – which means he won't be able to spread inflammatory lies, lash out at his opponents, or incite violence on the platform for the next year and a half.

This is a step forward, but it's not enough. Since November 3, 2020, Trump has continued endangering the cornerstone of our democracy by spreading his Big Lie about the election through every means available to him. Most especially on January 6, 2021, one of the darkest days in American history, when he inspired a violent mob of his supporters to storm the Capitol.

Since his social media accounts were temporarily suspended, Donald Trump has continued to spread lies – lies that, if amplified on social media, could pose serious harm to our democratic institutions. Now, Trump wants his Facebook account back to speak directly to the 81% of American adults who have an account.

As Mark Zuckerberg considers whether to let Trump back on his platform, I'm counting on people like you to share where you stand. We need 1,000 people to answer this one-question poll before midnight tonight, so I'm hoping to get your response right now:

Should Facebook allow Donald Trump back on its platform?

Yes: [link removed]

No: [link removed]

Thank you,

Dick
