Wisconsin is widely known as the home of great beer and cheese curds. But over the past decade, it's been earning a reputation as a dumping ground for dark money.

Wisconsin was cited as one of the darkest dark-money states in the United States in a recent PBS documentary. Spending by corporate super PACs kept former Governor Scott Walker in office for years as he obliterated the rights of public employees, and outraged billionaires used every dollar they could to smear election reformer and former Senator Russ Feingold.

Senator Ron Johnson's seat was rated one of the "10 Senate seats most likely to flip in 2022," according to CNN.

Wisconsin Democrats are already lining up to run against him, and any one of them would be better qualified to represent Sconnies than their Republican Senator.

We can't wait until the end of the primary to get involved, though. The eventual nominee will need a statewide, grassroots get-out-the-vote operation to beat back Mitch McConnell's super PAC, the Koch network, and a cavalcade of dark-money donors.
