Last year, the pandemic prevented many of us from coming together and participating in Pride celebrations in person. This year, with things inching closer to normalcy, I'm excited to take part in the Pride events occurring across New Jersey's 3rd District -- and for the opportunity to celebrate alongside my LGBTQ neighbors face-to-face.

Discrimination against the LGBTQ community still persists because of a patchwork of loopholes and exceptions that allow it to. This lack of protection for the LGBTQ community is simply un-American and does not reflect the values of our country and our communities.

That's why I co-sponsored and voted to pass the Equality Act, landmark legislation that would extend protections from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace, public education, housing, the jury system, and more.

The Equality Act ensures the longstanding belief that people should be judged on their merits rather than their identity. The bill has already passed the House, and now it's up to us to get it over the finish line.

The fight for future generations is on our shoulders. Thank you for standing with me as I work to secure justice and safety for our LGBTQ neighbors nationwide.
