Never in our 400-year history has Virginia elected a woman of color to statewide office -- now, we're that much closer.

I am so proud to be your Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor. Before I go any further, I have to ask: Can I count on you to become a founding donor and help us continue building on our momentum as we head into the general election? When you live a life of struggle -- losing a father to gun violence, surviving childbirth only thanks to Medicaid, struggling to put food on my family’s table and a roof over our heads -- it puts things in perspective.

That’s why I worked tirelessly in the House of Delegates with my colleagues to expand Medicaid for more than 500,000 Virginians, raise teacher pay, ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, and more.

But we still have so much work to do. And make no mistake, Republicans like Winsome Sears will do anything to roll back the progress we’ve made.

Sears and her running mates have repeatedly advocated to strip Virginians of their voting rights, defund our public school system, and gut affordable health care for more than half a million Virginians -- including stripping protections for folks with pre-existing conditions.

We simply cannot afford to have an anti-democracy, pro-Trump Lieutenant Governor. Virginia families need a Lieutenant Governor who will build bridges instead of barriers to progress, someone who understands their struggles, and someone who can build on the progress we’ve made so far to make our Commonwealth a better place for all of us.

I am that candidate, and as Lieutenant Governor, I will be a leader for all Virginians, no matter who you are, who you love, who you pray to, or what side of the aisle you are on.

Now, it’s just a matter of time before the attacks start coming. The GOP will throw every dirty trick in the book at us and we need to be prepared for anything.
