John,
As you know, online fundraising is an incredibly important part of how we -- and many other political campaigns -- fund our efforts. But recently, we've seen campaigns like Donald Trump's exploit donors with scams and deceptive tactics in order to extract more cash from hard-working Americans.
Many grassroots donors have unknowingly paid thousands to campaigns through deceptive practices -- like ones that automatically sign you up for recurring contributions unless you opt out. These practices are shameful, destroy confidence in our democratic process, and they must end.
That's why I just introduced legislation that bans the deceptive fundraising practice of automatically registering donors for recurring contributions.
Campaigns are about persuading voters on values and ideas, not scamming people out of every last dollar they have. Here on Team Levin, we've made it a part of our ethos to treat our grassroots donors with respect.
We're not taking a dime from corporate PACs, we only ask for your support when it's needed, and you can bet your dollars are being put to good use in order to keep our seat blue.
I'll always be transparent and honest about our fundraising needs -- and I'll never stoop to using deceptive practices. With that said, we have an important end-of-quarter FEC deadline at the end of this month and we need some help meeting our $35,000 online fundraising target. Can you chip in $3 contribution to support us today?

Thanks in advance,
