This Juneteenth, join us for a teach-in to learn from our advocates in DC and Texas what it looks like to demand reparations from a local perspective.
Dear John,
To mark Juneteenth — a day that honors Black freedom and Black resistance — we invite you to join us and connect across communities to learn how to fight for reparations for survivors and descendants of police violence and white supremacist violence co-hosted by DC Working Families Party, DefundMPD, Harriet's Wildest Dreams, the Texas Working Families Party, and In Defense of Black Lives Dallas.
This event is for anyone interested in learning more about reparations and the fight to achieve them. It is not exclusive to Texas and DC residents — all are welcome.
When: Tuesday, June 15, 6pm CST / 7pm EST
Where: Virtual event, join from anywhere
Now more than ever, conversations about reparations for people of African descent living in the United States have been in the news and on social media. Presidential candidates have even taken on the issue. But what does it look like on the local level? How can we take the conversation from the theoretical to the practical?
In this teach-in, we'll put the fight for reparations into historical context and walk through how advocates in DC and Dallas are making strides to fight for reparations in their own communities.
Paid for by Working Families Party National PAC (77 Sands St. #6, Brooklyn, NY, 11201).
