World Refugee Day is this Sunday. Held every year on June 20th, it’s a day to honor the resilience and determination of refugees worldwide.

President Biden recently increased the U.S. refugee admissions ceiling to 62,500 from the historic low of 15,000 under the previous Administration and we’re already seeing increased numbers of refugee arrivals around the country.

It’s a joy and an honor to welcome refugees to the United States. To show them their new homes, to teach them English, to help them find their first jobs and start school - USCRI is there every step of the way. But we can’t do it without you.

"I was 20 years old when I arrived in Des Moines. The city was a huge place. I got lost many times. I was a little familiar with English, but it was still hard to understand what people were saying. 

My USCRI case manager helped us get settled into our new life. He found our apartment and helped me with my first job. I worked as a CNA at a retirement community while studying at Des Moines Area Community College. I graduated with an Associate's Degree in Human Services! Without USCRI, there is no way I could have started my career here."
