John,
Happy Pride Month! We've made significant progress over the years for LGBTQ+ equality, but we've got a long way to go.
We're seeing state legislatures across the country undermind LGBTQ+ rights. Some of my colleagues in Congress believe that granting equal rights to our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters somehow takes away their own rights.
Enough.
We need strong fighters in Congress who will stand up for LGBTQ+ rights, and that's more than just posting a picture with a Pride flag. Republicans will do anything they can to prevent equality for all, and they're laying the groundwork at the state level. We need the Senate to pass the Equality Act NOW.
Can I count on you to donate to keep a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in Congress?
It's been 52 years since Stonewall, 40 years since the first HIV/AIDS diagnosis, and only six years since we got marriage equality. All of this progress was thanks to strong LGBTQ+ activists on the frontlines like Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Harvey Milk, and so many other trailblazers along the way.
Earlier this year, I took a stand and proudly displayed my transgender flag outside my D.C. office with a simple goal -- we need everyone to acknowledge that our trans friends and family members exist, and they deserve the same rights as the rest of us.
Can I count on you to rush a contribution to protect LGBTQ+ rights?
We can't go back. This Pride Month, we need to do all we can to expand equal rights for all.
