Flag Day

Today is Flag Day
[link removed] , a day which commemorates the Continental Congress' resolution
[link removed] on June 14, 1777 that established the look of the first national flag. Since then, generations of Americans have celebrated the flag
[link removed] as a symbol of our God-given freedoms and God-blessed nation.

The first Flag Day celebration
[link removed] occurred in Wisconsin in 1885, when a schoolteacher and his students observed June 14th as "Flag Birthday," or "Flag Day." This idea inspired others
[link removed] around the nation to copy the practice and the celebrations grew in scope and number. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation
[link removed] calling for the national celebration of Flag Day, thus establishing it as a national event.

You can celebrate Flag Day by flying a flag at your home, attending a Flag Day celebration, or even simply talking to your friends and neighbors about this national holiday. Happy Flag Day!

You have given a banner to those who fear you,
to be displayed because of the truth. Psalm 60:4
