Hi John,

As you’ve probably seen, the oceans are in a very bad way. Industrial fishing is emptying our seas, the climate crisis is killing coral reefs, oil drilling and plastic continue to pollute and choke marine life. [1]

So what’s the best way to save our oceans? Watch this video to find out.

Billions of people around the world directly depend on the oceans for food or their livelihoods. There’s been lots of debate on whether putting an end to all fishing is the best way to save our oceans. [2] But is that feasible or ethical for everyone on the planet right now? And what about all the other threats I mentioned above?

Less than 3% of the oceans are properly protected, meaning all industrial activity here is banned. Which is quite literally a drop in the ocean.

Greenpeace, together with supporters like you, have been campaigning to properly protect at least 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030.

But is 30% really enough? Watch the video to find out.

If you enjoy the video please remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel. And if someone tells you “the only way to save our oceans is for everyone to stop all fishing” show them this video and help raise awareness of the importance of properly protecting our oceans.

Thank you for all you do and let’s keep fighting for oceans,

Jack
